Dinner party


In October, students Indonesia has a dinner party. The theme of food typical of Indonesia and Thailand. Indonesia traditional foods that we serve are “nasi pecel, dadar jagung, rempeyek, and tempe goreng”.

Nasi pecel

Nasi pecel is a Javanese rice dish served with cooked vegetables and peanut sauce. The vegetables are usually kangkung or water spinach, long beans, cassava leaves, papaya leaves, cucumber etc.

Rempeyek Kacang

A Indonesian peanut snack which is delicious as a snack with your aperative as well as a small accomplicement with your meal.

Ingredients:

200 gr. Rice Flour
½ Tsp. Baking powder
250 ml. Coconut milk
½ Tsp. Coriander (ground)
½ Tsp. Salt
1 Clove Garlic (chopped)
Pinch of Cummin (ground)
Pinch of Turmeric (ground)
1 Candle Nut (grated)
100 gr. Raw Peanuts
Oil for frying

How to:

1. Mix the Rice flour with baking powder and coconut milk, then add Coriander, Cummin, Turmeric, Garlic and Candle nut.
2. Mix well. Now add the slightly crushed Peanuts and Stir well. This will give you a slightly runny batter mix.
3. Heat oil in shallow pan and fry batter by the tablespoon. drain on absorbent paper.

Tempe is a popular food on the island of Java, where he was the principal source of protein. tempe made with fermented soybeans.

Fried Mashed Corn - Dadar Jagung

Ingredients

2 or 3 corn, grated
Onion leaves, sliced thinly
1 egg
Salt and white pepper to taste
1/4 tsp turmeric
2 shallots
1/2 clove garlic
Optional: 2 tsb all purpose flour
Oil

Preparation

  1. Combine all ingredients except for the optional ingredient. Mix well. If the mixture is not thick enough, add the flour.
  2. Heat oil in deep fryer. Drop mixture by tablespoonful to the hot oil. Lift when color of fried corn has turn brownish yellow.
